The “Classics for Work” channel painted a flattering picture of the workplace with bracing, colorful pieces such as the Copland or unexpected bagatelles such as Dvorak’s polka “For Prague Students.” If I couldn’t make sense of the concept behind “Classical for the Soul,” I liked its quirky range. And if my Britten channel was inexplicably unsatisfying and I keep having to prune opera-lite tracks out of my Verdi channel (the last Pavarotti album and the intermezzo from “Cavalleria Rusticana” crop up like mushrooms), I’ve found a lot else to like. Perfect, perhaps not but I’ve heard a wide range of repertoire and a mix of fine recordings, from old Dorati releases of Dvorak to the soprano Ana Maria Martinez singing Villa-Lobos to - new to me - the late Soviet trumpet virtuoso Timofei Dokschitzer, whom Pandora presented to me in a transcription of a concerto by Hummel. I think Pandora gets a lot of things right, and its new stations are a step in the right direction. However, the real cue for eye-rolling is the Music Genome Project and the idea that you can break down music into 450 component descriptive parts, however precise the Britten example might illustrate just why this doesn’t work. The Beethoven Violin Concerto movement cited only the Utrecht Symphony I had to use Google to find out who the conductor and soloist might be. When you’re listening to Pandora on your iPhone, you often can’t tell exactly what piece you’re hearing, let alone who’s playing it - clicking on the image of the album cover gives you information about the composer, but simply seeing information about Rachmaninoff and a track listing for a piano concerto, with an album cover announcing “Berühmte Konzerte” (“Famous Concertos”), is not enough to let you know that you’re hearing the second concerto rather than the third, if you don’t know already. Since then, I've transferred all of my recordings (CD's and Ron Cuzner's radio programs) to a 160GB iPod Classic and more recently to iCloud. This should provide my cue to roll my eyes at how the Internet just doesn’t get classical music and enumerate all the glitches on Pandora to prove it. Over the years of listening to Ron's shows, I've developed my own Jazz music collection of nearly 1000 discs (vinyl and Compact Discs). I did manage to get all my recordings placed on a separate hard drive with help from an engineer of a local recording company. You can also find Ron Cuzner on Facebook hosted by an extremely supportive fan with an extensive knowledge of Jazz. These recordings (and many more from others) are now available FREE on podcasts to anyone with iTunes I collected over 50 of his programs on tape. His collection consisted of over 20,000 albums. Jazz never heard before and new releases only available to Jazz radio stations. Cuzner played Jazz from his own collection, Jazz from around the world. Cuzner's show did move from one station to another (over 10 different stations in Milwaukee), however, keeping the original concept in place, the majority of his 6 hour long shows were ad/commercial free, only to mention the sponsors name. The average cassette tape was only 45 minutes one side, (reel to reel was also not an option) so I decided to try VCR tapes and capturing the entire 6 hour program on one tape. Local radio stations years ago played Jazz then switched formats to accommodate the listener (Jazz was/is considered an old person genre).Īnyway, I started recording this particular Jazz radio program "The Dark Side" hosted by local jock Ron Cuzner. Clint, I've been listening to jazz for the last 40 years (started with a high school history assignment about events of the 1940's -50's)

Know someone who isn’t sure how to explain what’s on their screen? Send them a link to this article. Got any good screen capture tips or other favorite tools? We’d love to hear about it in the comments below. Take the time to try all of the key combinations and you’ll find that you can do almost anything you want with these tools without touching your mouse. Whether it’s for helping someone else out, asking for help, or just sharing something interesting or funny, screen captures are great. Screen captures are a great way to tell a story. This only allows for taking the screen capture. It does not open the full Snip and Sketch app for editing. Opens Snip and Sketch screen capture bar. We can navigate through options using the arrow and Tab keys, and use Enter to make selections. Once we’re in a tool, like the Highlighter tool, use the keyboard shortcut combination again to access the tools options. Unfortunately, there aren’t Windows snipping tool shortcuts to choose the delay time or type of snipping tool to use. Snip and Sketch can be opened using a keyboard shortcut, which makes it very handy to use. When in the middle of getting a screen capture, Esc cancels it out, by escaping. On Windows 10 the WinKey + Shift + S keyboard shortcut does open the Snipping portion of the Snip & Sketch tool but does not open Snip & Sketch. Use ↑ and ↓ arrow keys to choose from: No delay, 1 Second, 2 Seconds, 3 Seconds, 4 Seconds, 5 Seconds. Use ↑ and ↓ arrow keys to choose from: Free-form snip, Rectangular tool, Window snip, Full-screen snip. Windows + Shift + S: This keyboard shortcut opens the Snipping Tool app. You have never been able to run the Snipping Tool from the run command. Snip & Sketch is another free tool with more features than the Snipping Tool. What does it do Win + R is the run command, not the Snipping Tool, so I suspect you have the incorrect shortcut. If it says Alt + T then P that means press the Alt key and the T key at the same time and release, then press P. Win + Shift + S works on Windows 10 (Snip & Sketch), so it should do something, even if it does something else entirely. In the list of shortcuts below, Alt + N means to press the Alt key and the N key at the same time. We could make a keyboard shortcut to open Snipping Tools, though. There is no keyboard shortcut to open Windows Snipping Tools. It can’t be open and behind anything, or the shortcuts do not work. The Windows Snip & Sketch utility’s interface. For these shortcuts to work, Snipping Tools must be open and be the app that has the focus. The interface is very simply and offers option to edit and annotate your screenshot. The screen dims and provides four choices on a small. You can either ignore the Notification and paste directly into a destination or click on the Notification to open the selection in the actual Snip & Sketch interface. Win + Shift + S: Captures a screenshot using the built-in screenshot tool called Snip & Sketch (or the new Snipping Tool app in Windows 11). Once you have used one of the Snip options an alert will appear as a Notification the Action Center (bottom right on your screen). Window Snip - select by clicking on any open window.Freeform Snip - select by drawing a freehand selection marquee. The screen will dim and you can take screenshot using the toolbar shown at the top of the screen. Just press Win+Shift+S keys together on your keyboard and Windows 10 will launch Screen Snip tool. Rectangular Snip - select by drawing a rectangular selection marquee This is the default keyboard shortcut to launch Screen Snip & Sketch in Windows 10.Once activate, the screen will be covered with a dark overlay with Snip & Sketch toolbar at the top offering the 5 options labelled below: Snip & Sketch activated. Fix: Windows Snipping Tool Shortcut not Working Solution 1: Restart the File Explorer Solution 2: Update the Windows and Snip & Skitch App to the Latest. There is also a Screen snip shortcut in the Action Center. Hi, Ive just installed the new windows 10 october update and ive noticed that when I use the snip & sketch tool by launching it through the windows menu it works fine but if i use the new shortcut win shift s it allows me to take a sreenshot but it doesnt allow me to edit or save said screen. You could however just remove it from peoples computers. The keyboard shortcut + SHIFT+ S will activate the Snip & Sketch utility. I am not sure what the end goal of disabling snip and sketch would be, people can still just hit print screen and paste into MSPaint, or take pictures of the screen with their phones. The fact is electric motors have a much higher torque output relative to the watts/HP, and is near instant, when compared to nitro engines (which is what the diffs were originally designed for). I think arguing that a brand 'sucks' because certain parts can't handle extreme abuse at the max ratings is a bit silly. Of course, lots of power in a chassis that can handle it is best, but when choosing two from 'powerful/bulletproof/inexpensive'. Personally, I'd rather have more power than the chassis can handle and use it smartly than have an underpowered chassis within the same price point. There is the same amount of logic in stating that they don't make their parts strong enough, and that they put too much power in their product. Other than those two occasions, I've had no issues with jumps, wheelies, and general tearing up some grass and dirt.įrom my experiences, no, Traxxas does not 'suck'. In both instances, the rear diff gave out when landing standing backflips with the throttle still on, on 6s, sporting summit wheels and tires, complete set of steel driveshafts, with the slipper locked. I have an e-maxx with a MMM 2200kv setup and have also had to replace the rear diff gears twice. 6S is fun, but the truck requires some upgrades to handle it diff case's for a revo? Since when? The problem is that the differential casings (plastic) flex under load and allow the ring and pinion gears to change mesh, which blows up the teeth, as you've no doubt already seen. The stock differentials don't really hold up to 6S, no. 6S is fun, but the truck requires some upgrades to handle it reliably. Problem is, you'll be changing diff ratios (2.85:1 to 3.31:1) so you'll have to regear some. If you explode the diffs after that, your only option is the RC-Monster Hybrid diff cases, and those take 1/8 Scale diffs. Integy, GH, and HR all make diff cups that take the regular M2.5 screws that bolt up to the original gears, however. FLM makes these for the Revo & Maxx, and they include a modified ring gear that takes larger (M3) screws to boot. If you blow the spider gears (cup comes apart) later, you can fix that with an aluminum diff cup. The rear diff takes a much harder beating than the front end, so if you're strapped for cash, doing the rear end first is an option that works. Replacing the differential cases with aluminum cases will solve most diff issues you'll run into. This is a problem on both Traxxas Monster Trucks (Maxx & Revo). Any suggestions or clues as to why? Is 6S too much?Īnything helps! Thanks!!!The stock differentials don't really hold up to 6S, no. I keep having problems with the rear diff. Im running the mamba monster system on 6S. I got rid of those and upgraded to the Traxxas 2.2 dished wheels with various tires (track tires, sand paddles and street tires) for different environments.Got an E-Revo a few months ago and finally got it all put together. Plus the added weight really slows it down as they weigh almost twice as much as the stock wheels. Also beadlocks, I had two sets of Pro-line beadlocks when I first got my Merv but found they did more wear and tear to the axle carriers and drive train then needed. Plus the stuff bends when you wreck where plastic, teflon and other similiar parts give and can absorb impacts alot better. Most aluminum upgrades are just for bling and also add alot of unwanted weight. Upgrades I'd stay away from.anything aluminum imo. They will pay for themselves over time by saving you lots of money in broken parts. If you are just using your Merv for bashing I'd definitely recommend getting some TBR bumpers, I have them on both of our Mervs. If it's performance and speed you are looking for possibly upgrading to a 1/10 ESC so that you don't have heat issues like the stock VXL ESC is known for, especially running batteries in series and 3S lipos. RPM parts are high quality and takes alot of the play out of the suspension. RPM axle carriers and RPM a-arms, if your stock axle carriers haven't worn out and have alot of play in them already, they will. If it's handling I'd recommend upgrading the suspension. But since you have a budget it depends on what you are trying to improve on your Merv and what you mainly use it for. lol Most people do once they've had their Mervs long enough. More than likely you will upgrade everything. For the treatment of stable COPD patients, inhaled bronchodilators play a central role in reducing symptoms and exacerbations. The most common symptoms include dyspnea, cough and sputum production, with the symptoms worsening during exacerbations. Trial registrationĬhronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is currently the third leading cause of death in the world. Treatment with LAMA in stable COPD provided a significantly lower incidence of exacerbation and non-serious adverse events, and a higher trough FEV 1 compared to LABA. However, LAMA showed a significantly lower incidence of total adverse events compared to LABA (OR 0.92, 95% CI 0.86 to 0.98 P = 0.02). In the safety components, there was no difference in the serious adverse events between LABA and LAMA. Compared to LABA, there was a small but significant increase in the trough FEV 1 after LAMA treatment (Mean difference 0.02, 95% CI 0.01 to 0.03, P = 0.0006). In St George’s Respiratory Questionnaire and transitional dyspnoea index score, there were no differences between LABA and LAMA treatment. LAMA significantly decreased the exacerbations compared to LABA (OR 0.85, 95% CI 0.74 to 0.98 P = 0.02). We carefully excluded unblinded data and identified a total of 19 RCTs ( N = 28,211). We searched relevant randomized control trials (RCTs) with a period of treatment of at least 12 weeks and analyzed the exacerbations, quality of life, dyspnea score, lung function and adverse events as the outcomes of interest. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of LABA versus LAMA in patients with stable COPD. However, it is still unclear whether LABA or LAMA should be used for the initial treatment. Inhaled bronchodilators including long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) and long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) play a central role in the treatment of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). From there, you can disable or remove any extensions that you no longer need or that may be causing conflicts. Go to Chrome settings and select “Extensions” in the left-hand menu. To fix this, remove any extensions that you suspect may be causing the problem. This should work even if the Toolbar is not visible on the screen.Įxtensions can sometimes conflict with Chrome’s default settings or with each other, causing the Toolbar to disappear. Press the “Ctrl” + “Shift” + “B” keys (Mac users can use “Command” + “Shift” + “B”) to show or hide the bookmarks bar, which includes the Toolbar. If the Toolbar is simply hidden from view, you can use a keyboard shortcut to bring it back quickly. This should enable the Toolbar and restore it to its default position. To enable it, go to Chrome settings by clicking the three dots in the top-right corner, then select “Settings.” Under the “Appearance” section, find the “Show Home button” and “Show Bookmarks bar” options and toggle them to turn them on. In some cases, the Toolbar may be disabled or hidden from view. Then, reopen Chrome and check if the Toolbar has returned. To do this, click on the Chrome menu (three dots in the top-right corner) and select “Exit” or simply close the browser window. Sometimes, the Toolbar may vanish due to a glitch in the browser, and a simple restart should fix the problem. The first and easiest solution is to restart Google Chrome. Here are the top six ways to restore the missing Google Chrome Toolbar. Fortunately, there are several ways to restore the Toolbar and get back to browsing the web hassle-free. However, sometimes the Chrome Toolbar can disappear or become unresponsive, leading to frustration and inconvenience for users. One of the most essential features of Chrome is the Toolbar, which appears at the top of the screen and provides quick access to various functions such as bookmarks, extensions, and settings. Not the person you were responding to, I'm a client developer at Backblaze.ī) the amount of time it would take to re upload the data. I'm assuming this means that my true problem from earlier is that when I tried to force an update by clicking Backup Now, it wouldn't look at the newly re-checked drive for updates the way I expected it to. Sorry! (for you and me)ĮDIT: three hours later, I revisited the Backblaze app to find it backing up my exfat drive on its own. So even with the checkmark, it has not seemed to fix the actual problem of not backing up this drive. The Last File upload on the Settings tab is for my internal drive and for my now checked and selected external exfat drive (which is the last time it backed up before upgrading to the new MacOS). I even restarted my Mac to be sure that wasn't a necessary step also. I am able to now check the box for the external exfat drive, but even with this improvement, when I ask it to backup now, it does NOT look at all at this drive. I have installed this beta, which is reported to me as version 8.5.0.648. But Backblaze doesn't require these additional features to function. With the two PRIMARY file systems (APFS and NTFS) you get additional features like file modification notifications and "Shadow Copies" that exFAT doesn't support. One of the reasons it didn't bubble up is that Windows users ubiquitously prefer NTFS, and Mac users ubiquitously prefer "Mac OS Journaled Extended" (and now that has switched to the new default "APFS", and Apple even auto-migrates the boot file system in place to be APFS without even asking customers during an operating system upgrade). We're working through it now, trying to bring exFAT into the fold as a fully supported filesystem in all situations. It seems to be that a long time ago there were some issues that may or may not have been exFAT related, and it became standard Backblaze policy to not allow exFAT drives to be chosen ON THE MACINTOSH ONLY, and it became standard "well known" in the support group exFAT didn't work well, and it just bobbed along like that for several years until I heard about it fairly recently. On Windows it is supported and works fine. Your support people kept pushing back and telling me ExFat wasn’t supported. It literally has to work, there is no possibly reason it doesn't work. I'm trying to work through what went wrong internally at Backblaze to make the (incorrect) claim exFAT does not work on Mac. Nobody can find any examples of it not working. ExFat works, I swear on my mother's grave it works. Something went wrong several years ago, and I don't know what that was. Then bztransmit looks at the list and transmits files, and for that bztransmit needs to read files, and exFAT allows any process to read files so this profoundly works. The process called "bzfilelist" lists all the files and their last modified times, so if exFAT supports the concept of listing files and their last modified times (which is does) then bzfilelist will work (and obviously exFAT supports that). I'm working with support and the development group to try to find a single issue, and so far it is a total bust, exFAT is COMPLETELY supported by Backblaze and should work fine.īackblaze is profoundly simple. We cannot produce a single situation where exFAT has an issue. Please do not hesitate to reach out if other questions arise"ĭisclaimer: I work at Backblaze in the client team and wrote a lot of the code that supports exFAT.Īs far as anybody can tell, exFAT works flawlessly on Mac OTHER than just not being able to select it (which we are changing), and this is some sort of historical screwup. Thank you for your patience, and I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Because the Backblaze client encounters much difficulty with backing up ExFAT drives, we will not be able to back up the drive unless you reformat it. The external hard drive in question is ExFat. "Currently, we only explicitly support APFS or HFS+ on Macs and NTFS on Windows. I chose exFAT because I switched from Windows to Mac, and that was the most efficient way to transfer all the data between systems - also, there was no warning or issue by the Backblaze app itself about the drive format.īackblaze's support's answer is basically "reformat the drive", which is a non-starter because it'd require I get another massive drive to move everything from one drive to the next. Also, it disappeared in my Backblaze portal. It's been going fine since June (painfully slow), and then suddenly the other day Backblaze Config won't let me choose the drive for backup. The Wall Street Journal, under the headline “Goldman Sachs Is at War With Itself,” reported that Solomon’s predecessor, Lloyd Blankfein, had openly slagged him at the bank’s annual strategy conference. Solomon dismissed his adverse coverage as “noise,” but by this June, it was deafening. The next day, FAA records show, he registered a new Embraer Phenom jet for his personal use, disguising it under an LLC named for one of the wealthiest streets in the Hamptons, where he owns a home: Middle Lane. (He reimbursed the company, per policy.) Solomon was incensed. More damage came in April, when Insider reported that Solomon had flown Goldman’s planes at least 21 times to his retreat in the Bahamas. The single most harmful report came in November when it leaked that Solomon, who is divorced, had once boasted to a group of colleagues, “I bet I was the only one who got a blowjob last night.” Behind his back, snickering executives gave him a mortifying new nickname: BJ D-Sol. “Can you believe what my life has become?” Solomon said. As the media attention began to take its toll on Solomon, he called a former colleague to ask if he would say positive things about Goldman to reporters. Pictures of Solomon in the DJ booth at venues from Napa Valley to Lollapalooza - looking like the “How do you do, fellow kids? ” meme brought to life - embarrassed the most image-sensitive institution in finance. Solomon had directed Goldman to buy a pair of private jets, and Bloomberg News reported (with a reference to Marie Antoinette) that he flew them seven times in seven weeks to places like Barbuda and the Bahamas, even as he was reprimanding workers for not logging more hours in the office. Executives quit Solomon’s inner circle for rival shops, younger workers complained about the 100-plus-hour weeks he expected, and everyone rolled their eyes at his newish hobby: DJ-ing huge parties under the stage name DJ D-Sol.īy the fall of 2022, Wall Street was awakening to something extraordinary: The negativity heaping on Solomon was reaching a point at which it could threaten his job, no matter the state of the business. It started during COVID, when Goldman booked spectacular profits trading the pandemic markets at the same time that reports of misery among junior and senior bankers alike began to leak to the press. In a way that was a little hard to detect at first - and has lately become the most-talked-about story on Wall Street - that dynamic is being put to the test. The only real nonnegotiable is that you be skilled at making money, so when the board tapped Solomon to lead the bank in 2018, it was widely understood that as long as earnings got fat, it didn’t matter if his bankers liked him personally. You don’t need to be popular to be the CEO of Goldman Sachs, of course. “He’d knock on their door and they would get scared. “He would stomp around the floors in a really purposeful way, and he’d find the two or three people he knew,” the banker says. The exercise did not succeed in endearing Solomon to the Goldman rank and file. “When I told him, ‘You got to stick your hand in the candy bowl,’ he just gave me this look like, Why would I do that? How is that productive?” recalls someone involved in the effort. They suggested he walk the floors more often and create opportunities for small talk - perhaps by stopping at an assistant’s desk to take a piece of candy. Several years ago, when Goldman’s board was auditioning him for promotion to CEO, the bank’s image specialists gave Solomon tips on becoming more approachable. He walks heavily, a venti iced coffee almost always in hand, as though the sport of being a banker were a physically taxing one. Clean, with eyes so squinted behind doughy features it’s hard to tell what color they are. Solomon, 61, is bald and broad-shouldered, like a thicker and more wizened version of Mr. The word a lot of people use about him is bully. “He always sounds like he’s shouting - always.” It’s a tendency he can’t even suppress in text: Solomon likes to MAKE NOTES ON DOCUMENTS IN ALL CAPS. “He’s not really yelling, but he sort of talks at you.” “When he talks, he shouts,” another banker agrees. “He sort of talks in a yelling voice,” says one colleague. The voice of the Goldman Sachs CEO is perpetually hoarse, as if he has permanently worn it out from screaming. Even people fond of David Solomon acknowledge that his equilibrium state is what most of us would consider tense. Lloyds TSB Group bought HBOS in January 2009 and renamed itself Lloyds Banking Group. In 2015, it was acquired by Sabadell Group. Post-divestment, TSB offered an initial public offering and was listed on the London Stock Exchange in June 2014. The bank was formed from the existing business of Lloyds TSB Scotland plc, into which a number of Lloyds TSB branches in England and Wales and all branches of Cheltenham & Gloucester were transferred, and renamed TSB Bank plc.Ī European Commission ruling that the British government's 2009 purchase of a 43% stake in Lloyds Banking Group counted as state aid made it necessary for Lloyds Banking Group to sell a portion of its business TSB was divested. Its headquarters are located in Edinburgh, Scotland, and it has more than five million customers with over £37 billion of lending and £36 billion of customer deposits. TSB in its present form launched on 9 September 2013. TSB Bank operates a network of 220 branches across England, Scotland and Wales but has not had a presence in Northern Ireland since 1991. TSB Bank plc is a retail and commercial bank in the United Kingdom and a subsidiary of Sabadell Group. |
